Each quarter-size map is centered on a 4' x 4' sheet of white (melamine) board. I purchased mine from Menards. Details:

Top-View of Map for sample golf hole: (Note: I'm casting a slight shadow on the board) Walls are denoted by 0.75” black vinyl tape with the outer dimensions of the rectangle being 1' x 2'. Obstacles are also denoted by 0.75” black vinyl tape and scaled to quarter-size. The suggested path starts where the center of the tee-box would be located and ends in the center of the “hole.” The path is denoted by 0.75” red vinyl tape, and the “hole” is a 1.5” circle made from pieces of black vinyl tape.
