{"id":74,"date":"2019-02-12T05:15:59","date_gmt":"2019-02-12T05:15:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.micsymposium.org\/mics2019\/?page_id=74"},"modified":"2019-02-12T05:15:59","modified_gmt":"2019-02-12T05:15:59","slug":"cybersecurity-competition-rules","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/micsymposium.org\/mics2019\/cybersecurity-competition-rules\/","title":{"rendered":"Cybersecurity Competition Rules"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">New for 2019!&nbsp; Put\nyour cybersecurity skills to the test in our Red Team vs. Blue Team competition.&nbsp; Teams will take turns attacking and defending\ncomputers, servers and networks.&nbsp; The\nteam with the most points wins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Teams can be\ncomprised of:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>One student team lead<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Up to 9 additional students<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Teams can include no more than 3 graduate students.&nbsp; Graduate students include any student pursuing\nadditional studies after the award of a B.S., B.A. or similar degree.&nbsp; Students taking graduate courses while still\npursuing an undergraduate degree are not considered graduate students for the\npurposes of this rule.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>One coach<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Coaches do not participate in the competition.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The competition:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Teams will participate twice in each heat of the\ncompetition: once as a blue (defending) team and one as a red (attacking) team.&nbsp; Each team will pick no more than 6 members\nfor each round\u2019s red and blue teams.&nbsp; A\nteam will not be asked to participate as both a red and blue team concurrently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Teams will be scored based on system uptime and system exploitation.&nbsp; Scenarios will vary from round to round.&nbsp;&nbsp; The number of rounds will depend on the\nnumber of teams that register.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What you need to\nknow:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Windows &amp; Linux security (sorry, no Mac security\nincluded)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Switch and network configuration<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Firewall basics<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New for 2019!&nbsp; Put your cybersecurity skills to the test in our Red Team vs. Blue Team competition.&nbsp; Teams will take turns attacking and defending computers, servers and networks.&nbsp; The team with the most points wins.
