Cyber Security Workshop

Join us for an interactive two hour cybersecurity workshop at MICS 2026 where you will learn essential security concepts and then apply them in a hands on group challenge. This session is designed to introduce you to practical cybersecurity skills using open source tools in a safe and controlled environment.

During the first half of the workshop you will explore core concepts such as the CIA triad network security web application vulnerabilities and basic cryptography. In the second half you
will work in teams inside a virtual lab to identify vulnerabilities perform reconnaissance and analyze network traffic.

This will be a group based challenge where you will collaborate with your teammates to solve guided tasks and uncover security weaknesses. You will be able to interact directly with the instructors ask questions and experiment with real tools used in industry. Groups will be assigned by the workshop leaders; thus you will likely be in groups with people from other institutions.

Whether you are new to cybersecurity or already interested in ethical hacking this workshop will give you practical exposure and a chance to compete in a friendly and engaging environment.

To participate in this please send an e-mail to mics2026@micsymposium.org with your name and school affiliation by March 18th. You must be registered at MICS 2026 to be eligible. You will be notified via e-mail if you have been selected to participate in the workshop.
